Callum Beamish shares some of his work with us

I created this series of images just over a year ago now. Unfortunately at the time I was using a program similar to PS elements, so compared to my skills now, they are quite simple pieces.

The whole theme for them came through my GCSE art course, when I began to think about the emotions that affect us mountainboarders when we are riding or racing. All of the images contain at least one word that state the emotion that I was trying to convey to the viewer. Focus, Adrenaline, Fear, Pride and Rivalry are all words that I think relate to how we feel when riding. The focus we have when we are trying to nail a line we haven't yet achieved, or to get in front in a race. The adrenaline that shoots around our body when you hear the gate drop, giving that high we all crave. The fear that we also feel in the back of our mind before we do some crazy line, but that we master to ignore. The pride that we have being out with our local teams and witnessing their achievements as well as our own. Finally, the friendly, or not friendly, rivalry that we have whilst strapping in at the top of the start gate, even if it is with friends. These were all things that, in a way, inspired me to make some of these images. Callum Beamish
