Nielegal ( Illegal in Polish ), producers of Rem's March covershot, are a small collective of creative mountainboarders. They push the sport pro-actively with professional results, such as beautifully produced videos & masterly photography. They also organise the high-profile competition Master of the Hill.

Back in July & September last year, Nielegal took over the two Polish ski resorts of Kotelnica in Białka Tatrzańskato and Żar mountain in Międzybrodzie Żywieckieput and filled them with mountainboarders for the 2nd ever MotH comps. In association with All4Ride ( a commited Polish mountainboard shop and dedicated promoter ), the frenzied Downhill competition took in some real varied terrain, from steep scrub to rocky passes, and attracted loads of riders from Poland, Europe and also tempted American Jereme Leafe to join in as part of his European tour 09 (apparently he was a bit daunted by the fact everyone else rode NoSno's with brakes & were clad in body armour!)
The views from the start posts were almost as epic as the racing...

And so here we present the full set of amazing images: full of feeling, they capture the mood brilliantly. With the occasional photoshop treatment to make the images even more lush,  the Nielegal Team have outdone themselves.  Gotowe .. Stały ... Go!

Wow hey?

Filip Szawarski, photographer & Nielegal co-founder lets us in on a little of what the polish scene is like and what they're doing to help it grow.

"Mountainboarding started developing in Poland in 2002. Since then the number of places to mountainboard has increased, as well as the number of people and competitions. Master is currently the largest contest and - as rated by pros - a hard one. This is surely an incentive for many. We continuously work on reaching the widest number of people in Poland.

As ‘Nielegal' we have been active in the mountainboarding business for several years. We are engaged in production of various promotional materials such as photos & videos, as well as helping creating the whole idea of the Master contest. We know only one effective recipe for success for this brand new sport in this country and that is having fun and sharing positive emotions with others. The more things occur in that sphere and the more people share it, the more people will start mountainboarding.

We also want to show the sport from different angles - fast and slow: diabolical and divine at a same time.
"

For an encore, the final selection of shots... Diabolical, and divine ;) beautiful.

As Filip says for the Nielgal crew: it's not just about photos, it's about exploring all forms of media and marking partnerships to further push the creative boundaries. At the beginning of this year they teamed up with a group of turntable-ist's call the 13crew from Tricity to produce the soundtrack for the Master of The Hill film. The awesome visuals, captured with a One-Five sensibility, show off the mountainboard action in a great light, while the cut n' paste dj-centric beats n' breaks add a new flavour to the usual wheelyboard flava's.  Scratch it!

You gotta love the passion and output of the illegal crew, they continue to push the sport creatively and we can't wait to see what they've got in store for the next few years!
