Rotations, rails, and radness: A very British Demonstration The last weekend of March saw the MBS Europe Pro Team hit the Queen's home-turf of Windsor, at the British Leisure Show. Here, Wilz presents his photgraphic reportage from the sunday - the best day of 3 for weather & crowds & freestyle... (JJ jumping a kid, from under the ramp) It was a fine, busy sunday. An eventground full of tents, boats, caravans, weird outdoorsy pursuits, and mountainboarding. The hard-working ATBA crew did over 200 kids in the free try-out area while the riding from the MBS Europe Pro demo team was cool; relaxed & fun with no pressure. The team's dynamic talents made for amazing displays throughout the day, punctuated by bouts of free curry tasting, sasperella drinking, and jibbing, ending in a jaw-dropping progression session featuring the All-New and totally trademarked Death-traption... Tom Kirkman was on form, possibly now in a permanent state of 'Riding Nirvana' due to having his signature board under his own freaky feet. Jamie J absolutely killed it (having no fear), and Brindy & Tom Read were almost flawless, stomping everything with a smile. Tuai was having 'one of those days', yet that still involved going bigger & stylier than most! Anyway, another full report may still appear (courtesy of Crilley Jnr) with yet more lovely photos that are in remolition possession from Crilley Snr. Meantime: feel the mood, gasp at the freestyle, and enjoy the demo :) Part One: MorningLittle kids loving the mountainboard try-out, the big kids dialling rails: fs + bs boardslides, 180s, 3s, rail-trains, then ramps became fun boxes.. nose-rolls, 180's, 3's sweet sweet playing from the jib-masters. Some Ginger Spice cheese, then back to the big ramp for some big air... part Two: AfternoonWith kite demos going on simultaneously, the crowds gathered for the next display and the tricks started to come thick & fast. 3's, 5's, then the odd 7. With Rhys on the mic keeping it moving (& keeping it random), the UK MBS pro demo team were going inverted, doing trains, jumping over people, and, y'know, it all went off with effortless style. Part Three: EveningWith the crowds dwindling and the sun starting it's descent, the ideas started. Pushing together the two ATBA mini-roll in ramps (look back at the start), the boys started re-shaping their playground. It was on; drop in from the main roll-in tower, air the van & land as usual, then jump up and over the hand-rails... Jamie cleared it easy first time. Then make a gap! (rider TK (now in orange t) cameo from AJ, Rhys on the flo') Then, know what? Put the rail on the landing and 50-50 it. yep. And finally, as the piece de resistance, (just before Jamie's Ankles had had it for the day), for TK and Shiz to land it, stoney-cold, in a fs boardslide. Of course. Easy, really. Too cool. Get on over to ATC for another write-up that features more archery and to get knee-deep in clunge, & go to MBS Europe for the video you can see being shot in these photos, but honestly, it don't do it justice... This is truly World Class riding, and a great way for the public to be awed by mountainboard riding. I know i was. You gotta see it to believe it. Peace, fingers fingers! Well done to everyone esp. ATBA, big thanks to Tom Beaton & MBS crew, Paul, Rhys, spud, & the cheese-makers. Sorry for the lateness lol Words & Pictures copyright mr. daniel wilson 2010 |
