Remolition presents the world's first mountain boarding exhibition

exhib

Remolition resident and co-founder Decreate hosted the world's first ever exhibition of atb photography, artwork and paraphernalia between the 14th and 29th of June 2008. Designed to stimulate a bit of interest in sport's best kept secret and to do something 'a little bit different', it was a resounding remolitional success!

Decreate's studio in High Wycombe, half-hour west of London and just off the M40 in the Chiltern hills, was to be used as the location, and with the benefit of acquiring two extra rooms, a free public display of all things mountainboardy was on the cards. Showing off the hard graft we have all put in ( out of pure love ) since Rem was born, it displayed loads of kick-ass framed photos ( by Dirt Monkeys, WX mafia and more ), all new art created specifically ( including a tongue-in-cheek Tracy Emin's 'Unmade Bed' parody ), customized and old skool boards, books, vids, and the artworks originally printed in the legendary All Terrain Boarding magazine.

The opening weekend was a bit quiet due to a clash with round 2 of the UK championships, lovely weather, fathers day etc, but there were visitors everyday for the first week. The middle weekend went off. With all the Rem residents in attendance, the boarding talk out-weighed the actual riding for a change, so impromptu balance board sessions, Frisbee, and jibbing in the big gravel car park broke out periodically.

Throughout the next week till the close, the public arrived intrigued and left enthused, from couples with little ones to OAPs! Also, with so many A-level and degree students having summer projects, there were loads of visitors who were stoked to find out that all this lark is even going on, right on their doorsteps.

Some of the comments from the guestbook include:

  • "Great work, really enjoyed it" Francesca Rowe
  • "Incredible stuff! It's given me some great inspiration for my A2 course. Cheers!" Jack Wood
  • "Totally unique. So many diff methods of work. F--king fantastic ( sorry about the language lol ) " Samantha French
  • "Excellent show! Inspired me" Roger Swannell
  • "Really really amazing stuff - great creativity" Cameron Douglas
