An end-of-08-season report, by Ben Rye

It was time for me to head off to the last event of the year, leaving around 9 in the morning I was off to bugs boarding where they would be holding the AGM, overall prize giving and a couple of fun events. It was really cool to see everyone again and to be at bugs, the plan for the day was open practice for a slopestyle and slalom event that was to start at 2pm and obviously it didn't ...

So around 3pm we got started with the slopestyle, 3 runs each and on any feature you wanted to hit. Everyone seemed to be having a great time with some interesting lines appearing from one side of the hill to the other. John Stamp was killing the world's jumps along with Ben Tweedie and Bomber. Josh Maddocks was throwing massive 540's over the hip and even some of the masters were getting their jib on. It was a really fun slopestyle event, so relaxed and chilled I just wish there were more events like this. Onto the slalom, a very fast course with a few jumps thrown in for some interesting racing. 4-6 man in some races witch made it fun to watch, I even saw Joe Dickson jump over Ryan Bunting in one race! With the last race finishing in darkness it was time to enjoy the evening.

The next morning was probably hard for some but the sun soon shone through and we were all ready for the prize giving. the prize giving got going around 12:00 lots of clapping later we had overall winners in every category, all the results will be published on the www.atbauk.org web site as I can't remember them all. Most people decided to enjoy bugs boarding while they could with a chilled out session on the kickers and quarter pipe while the important AGM meeting was being held at the bottom of the hill. Hopefully that went to plan and we have a great season next year!!
