Hales Superbole's weekend Girly Camp
Dirt Flirt Mountainboarding Girly Camp 2010, July 9th-11th 2010 Presented by Boardology (www.boardology.co.uk) in association with Hales Superbole Board & Bike Park (www.halesuperbole.co.uk) With excitement, enthusiasm and bundles of female energy, Dirt Flirt (now in its fourth year), kicked off in true lady style on the Friday with a generous flowing of champagne to welcome the girls and congratulate everyone on pitching their tent without the need for male assistance! As well as greeting the girls with a BBQ, they were treated to fantastic Boardology goody bags with treats from the sponsors: Nikita, Demon Snow, Trampa, MBS, Earth2Air, Les Ettes, Toqueanies, and Cooler Magazine. In true girly camp style the Cheshire Hills became alive on Saturday morning with the sound of whooping, cheering and screaming as the girls threw themselves energetically into the first day of camp... Newbies hit the slopes rolling with plenty of screams and leg hugging (!) as they learned and developed the basics needed to get down the slopes in one piece. Taking on the challenges of doubles, drop offs and single track riding the advanced group perfected their handling of speed and learnt how to do it in style.
Following more instruction and demos given by the Hales Team Riders, the girls were dragged from the hills for afternoon tea and delicious cakes. The day ended with Champagne flowing once again around the traditional Hales bonfire, and the sound of chatting & laughter carried on well into the night...
Day two of camp woke to a bunch of muscle- weary riders, all heading up the hill with generous bundles of enthusiasm to consolidate skills and techniques learned during day one, and to advance their skills. The advanced group continued to push their riding further and explored riding alongside others whilst pulling freestyle tricks such as 180’s and grabs. Instructors kept their eyes on the girls progression and before long another wonderful day's mountainboarding rolled to a stop. Prizes generously donated by the sponsors were given out to end yet another fantastic event! Everyone did really well and learned a lot, with notable mentions going to: Most Improved Newbie Rider : Fiona Whiston Most Improved Advanced Rider: Sarah Woodvine As the pimped up 1965 VW camper slowly pulled out of Hales Superbole, the last of the 2010 Dirt Flirt ladies, Alli (Boardology owner and Dirt Flirt founder), left a happily exhausted team of Hales Superbole ATBA instructors thanking themselves that it only happens once a year! (well... men are from Mars!!) A million thanks to all the sponsors, Boardology, Hales Superbole and to the very talented Nick Kennard for taking an incredible photographic account of Dirt Flirt 2010. You guys are great!
