Ironside’s Foam Pit Launch and Opening Party

James Wanklyn tells us all about Ironside’s Foam Pit Launch and Opening Party with pictures from Andy Rolfe, Zeemon Erhardt and Ollie Lewis:

Winter has finally drawn to a close, and that means the opening of Ironside’s M.B.C for the year, and the grand unveiling of the Foamula One pit. The week before was spent in snow, building kickers and finishing the roll in, praying for the snow to ease so we could all ride.

It all came together with the whole Ironsides crew stepping in and helping. Andy Rolfe organised the bands to give us all some entertainment, myself and Phil De-Havilland Hall stepped in for some last minute kicker building. All whilst Laura Ellis kept us all organised and sane! Raph La Roche, Rachel La Roche and Tom Donaldson worked tirelessly all winter to bring us some lush foam pit action, so big props to all involved!!

Saturday arrived and at midday, myself and Nitro star Matt Brind cut/ripped out the ribbon on the roll in and Raphael La Roche took the virgin flight. The day that followed was filled with insane tricks from all angles. Doubles galore with doubles from Brindy, myself, Aiden Beamish, Micky Morris and Ben Wanklyn. We saw B flips and 9’s from Brindy, switch doubles and switch B flips from myself (for those who don’t know a B flip is a double backlfip with a 180). We had back and frontflips from newly named Trampa team rider Ed Richardson, loving his new ride. The biggest and steeziest FS 3’s and 5’s from Andy Brind. Daf Price from the bitches was loving some big old backflips, along with Aiden Beamish boosting some big slow flips. Northern Monkeys, Ash Mulholland and Andy Dumelow, were shredding with rodeos, fronts and backs, plus a scary speed wobble to frontflip from Andy. Mini shredder Fyn, Ironside’s youngest, was hitting the foam from the top roll in and showing all how it’s done.

Not to forget the non mountain boarders, with bikes and scooters hitting the ramp, and some skateboarders hitting their face on the wood!

This is all to name but a few of a crazy amount of big, smooth and stylish tricks in the sickest foam pit session yet! The whole day was filled with music from the likes of Wet Cherry, The Phaze, Replicated Youth, Skinhorse and to top it off King Tuts Revenge in the evening whom everyone went mental for. They are one of the best ska bands going and are well worth a listen to!

From all at Ironsides we want to say thank you to all who came and shredded and know that this is not the last from us, there is an identical kicker to dirt landing going in so tricks can be taken from foam to dirt as easy as pie!!
