One of the UK’s most popular Mountainboard Centre’s is transforming…

UPDATE March ’15

Woop! It’s official, Court Farm will indeed keep the site on and re-open next spring as ‘Hereford Board & Bike Park‘ with a new team managing.

We’re expecting a press-release with all the details to come in the new year but till then, know that it will be in very capable hands, including those of Phil DHH & Tom Donaldson. There will be plenty of changes before it opens springtime, ready for Round 1 of the ATBA-UK Series 2015 on 16/17th May;  Till then, Hoorah Back in the game!

Nov 3rd ’14:

It was with heavy heart we heard the news of Ironsides closing. Yes it’s now official; the popular centre, managed by ATBA honcho Raph La Roche, daughter Rachel and the team, has made the incredibly hard decision to close it’s gates.

Using Facebook to make the public announcement on Halloween October 2014, they said

Dear friends, its with great sadness to inform you all that Ironside’s Court Farm is now closed for good. I have had the best years of my life there running the center and more importantly being honoured to have had 1 of the best teams in the world TEAM IRONSIDE go from strength to strength with every passing year, but due to the financial climate I am unable to continue. I just want to thank everyone who has helped and supported us over the years but unfortunately all good things must come to an end. This is by no means the end of TEAM IRONSIDE, I shall be wearing my colours till the day I die and those who choose to stand beside me are forever welcome. Thanks again guys. Ironsides court farm is dead, long live TEAM IRONSIDE. Thanks again, Raph. X

There has of course been an outpouring of dis-belief, gratitude, respect, understanding, and general sad upset from the mountainboard community.

There’s personal messages from riders who have been profoundly affected by the place, such as longtime UK scenester and shredder of skulltastic masks Rich Sykes who said “This has shattered my heart…. Those who know me well know Ironsides was my Mecca, and only few know why it was. My first ever comp…my first race….I shed blood, sweat and tears….I almost died there… The skull-masked Dirty13 you all know today, was reborn there.. In Your Honour bruv  69-181-13 XXX”

Ben Wanklyn, local shredbot who was created at Ironsides, does some art therapy.

  International rider Arno DVD sums up the mood pretty well  saying “Very sad to hear this morning that Ironside’s Court Farm is closing. This place has always made me feel welcome and i spent probably my best birthday party there.. Full moon drunk foampit session till i couldnt walk anymore!!! Raphael La Roche you’re a legend and i completely respect your choice! Ironsides is dead, long live ironsides!!!— feeling upset.

We asked Raph for some more info on what’s happening with the centre, whether Court Farm is re-purposing the land etc, so hopefully we can bring you more details when it’s not so raw;

Remolition may put together a special orange feature in celebration of a centre that gave so many riders so many awesome memories.

Till then, thanks for everything guys. See you on a hill real soon.
